What an appropriate name for taking down the Queen. Zenyatta got beat for the first time in the Breeders Cup Classic today. A horse named Blame beat her by a nose. Zenyatta was undefeated and this would have been her 20th win - a record!
I am very happy that Zenyatta will retire safe and sound. I hope that many TB breeders will see the value in waiting to race a TB until they are an adult instead of starting them when they are babies. Kudos to her trainer, John Shirreffs. He said in an interview today that it is always about the horse, not the win. I sure wish more trainers felt that way.
