We have started a seasonal Play Day for the boarders at Sunny Acres Ranch. This past Saturday, 11/22/08, we met, competed, played, and laughed hysterically over some of the horses' opinions about playing the games. You really had to be there! ;D The final standings were: Ground Skills: Tie for 1st Place - Becky & her mare, Whiskey & Syndi & her gelding, Jack. 2nd Place - Dakota and his borrowed friend, Dancer. Riding: 1st Place - Becky and Whiskey 2nd Place - Colin and his borrowed friend, Ginger. Hardest Horse to Handle on the Ground: Ginger and Colin (who was a very good sport) Hardest Horse to Ride: Jack and Syndi - (Jack decided to show everyone what he would look like if he were Appaloosa bucking stock!) Best Sportmanship: Candie (her mare, Whinny, wasn't too sure about a few of the games, but Candie kept a smile on her face, controlled her horse, and the team won two of the riding events!) Great job to everyone! Pictures coming soon.

Shelly
THANK YOU!!! The Follies were so much fun. I know that Dani and Whiskey enjoyed the play date as well.

I am missing some fun over there at the Ranch. Maybe I'll get over there someday with my beastie. Any good trails over there Shelly? (For when I have Flair broke to ride of course)

We got sand in the arena, and now it is time to party. Pictures still coming. PS: Not too many trails here. Might get to chase a cow or llama though.

You could always try herding the minis... Might not be too successful at that though because they squeeze under things, the little escape artists

Finally....here are the pictures of our "follies". Pep talk with the head demo horse - Beau. It takes so little to make her think I'm brilliant. Ready, get set, have fun! I'm supposed to jump the barrels? Are you SERIOUS?! Jingle Bells, Geldings smell, Mares all the way! Hey Mom, we're on candid camera. It is really quite simple to train your human to walk over bridges. Mine learned in 2.3 seconds. So, who laid the big egg? The geldings may be doing something interesting, but we're still not going to look. This only looks like fun! I may actually break a sweat. I've trained lots of kids. Notice how I've taught this one to walk quietly and respectful on a loose lead. Don't be afraid to touch the big white orb, young ObiWan. It will not harm you. Whose bright idea was it to give the humans toys? Alright, I'll stand on it, but just don't make me look! I think we can take 'em in the next round. If she hooks me up to a sleigh, all bets are off. What is this? Reindeer on parade?

Hey, that sounds good. I'm sure Dakota would be happy to loan you Ginger to play with. ;D By the way, in case you guys haven't figured it out, we did an obstacle course that required you to get your horse to stand on a tarp with all four feet for 5 seconds, jump the barrels, walk over a bridge, and touch the ball, or be touched by the ball. It was fun to see all the reactions. We didn't get any pictures of our afternoon riding events, because we were all to busy riding. They were all just as much fun though. I wanna coem next time maybe after im done an married we can come up n vist u so i can play!!!

Fun for who? Jack didn't get hooked up to a sleigh and he still decided all bets were off! Actually it was a great time and I am looking forward to the next one!
